The Eagle Squadron Mustang GT

The Mustang is a popular sight on the nation’s roads. The vehicle, known for its dependability and power, has been a top choice for muscle car enthusiasts for decades. Despite the Mustang’s familiarity within both the global and American markets, the Eagle Squadron Mustang GT is a far different story. While the same design as the standard Mustang, the Eagle Squadron vehicle is visually different than any other on the planet.

This is, of course, by design. The Eagle Squadron Mustang is a one-of-a-kind vehicle. Ford built the visually-spectacular car for the 2018 Experimental Aircraft Association’s The Gathering fund-raiser and auction. The fundraiser supports both the Experimental Aircraft Association Aviation Museum as well as youth programs designed to help the next generation of aviators.

Ford has provided several other one-of-a-kind Mustangs for the yearly auction in the past. These vehicles are modeled after some of the most iconic planes in history; this year is no exception. The Eagle Squadron Mustang GT is designed after the legendary Supermarine Spitfire fighter plane. This plane was widely used during WWII by the British Royal Air Force.

This one-off Mustang pays homage to the Royal Air Force, which celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2018. Additionally, it also pays respect to the squadron from which its name derives. Eagle Squadron was a group of American pilots that flew with the Royal Air Force prior to the United States entering WWII. The Eagle Squadron Mustang GT is truly a special vehicle.
