Ford Motor Company Unveils 2019 Transit Connect Cargo Van

Ford Motor Company unveiled the 2019 Ford Transit Connect Cargo Van on March 6, the latest iteration of the best-selling compact cargo van in America.

The vehicle features two new powertrain packages, including a segment-exclusive 1.5-liter EcoBlue diesel powertrain which is targeted for a fuel economy rating of approximately 30 mpg on the highway.

The Transit Connect has numerous technological features, including 4G LTE wireless connectivity, Ford’s standard pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection, side wind stabilization, a rearview camera, Ford’s Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert, and Ford’s lane keeping system.

In a statement outlining the features of the new Transit Connect, Ford said the vehicle is “smarter than ever.”

“Tools like the only standard embedded 4G LTE modem in the segment provides Wi-Fi for up to 10 devices, while an available 6.5-inch floating touch screen running SYNC® 3 helps drivers keep their eyes on the road as they field customer calls and text messages hands-free or navigate to job sites,” Ford said. “FordPass helps monitor small fleets, including driver location, fuel level, tire pressure and more. Ford’s MyKey® programmable ignition key remains standard for Transit Connect XLT enabling owners and fleet administrators to preset warnings and limits for vehicle speed, while restricting the entertainment system’s audio to 45 percent of maximum volume.”

The Transit-Connect also has cargo-carrying and towing capabilities, making it functional as well as technologically-advanced.

“Loading a 48-inch pallet via forklift is easy with 180-degree swing-out rear cargo doors that can be locked in the open position. Its high-strength body is Built Ford Tough, engineered to rigorous global commercial vehicle durability standards,” Ford said in the statement. “Transit Connect also provides unsurpassed towing capability of 2,000 pounds when paired with the available tow package.”

The vehicle is highly customizable, according to Ford, as it can be outfitted with cargo management solutions, ladders and roof racks by aftermarket upfitters and suppliers.

The 2019 Ford Transit Connect Cargo Van will go on sale in Fall 2018, available to be purchased and serviced at over 3,000 Ford dealerships across the United States.
