Ford Runs Free with Newest Mustang: All Electric Mach-E

Mustang has been a staple nameplate for Ford since its inception in the 1960s. Representing the American spirit with freedom, speed, and big dreams with a rebellious nature, Mustang has come to represent a huge piece of American culture. Now, Ford has set out to progress society and American culture further with the newest edition to the Mustang family: an all-electric SUV-the Mustang Mach-E.

“At the first-ever Detroit auto show, Henry Ford said he was working on something that would strike like forked lightning,” said Bill Ford, executive chairman, Ford Motor Company. “That was the Model T. Today, the Ford Motor Company is proud to unveil a car that strikes like forked lightning all over again. The all-new, all-electric Mustang Mach-E. It’s fast. It’s fun. It’s freedom. For a new generation of Mustang owners.”

Whether you’re looking for space, speed, or efficiency, the Mustang Mach-E delivers all. With a variety of options available, Ford allows customers to customize their Mach-E to their personal needs. If Ford drivers are looking for more efficiency, they can find the rear-wheel drive option paired with the extended-range battery to deliver 300 miles per full charge. For Ford drivers who want more performance, the all-wheel drive system that will be available when the Mach-E is released to the public will serve as the first production vehicle to be tuned by the Ford Performance team. After being tested in extreme weather conditions to gain the most traction in wet and snowy terrain, the all-wheel drive system paired with the extended-range battery will output 332 horsepower and produce 417 lb.-ft. of torque.

For Ford drivers looking for the ultimate showdown, the Mustang Mach-E will also be released in two performance models: Mustang Mach-E GT and the Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition. Both are expected to produce 459 horsepower and 612ff lb.-ft. of torque. The Mach-E GT can accelerate 0 to 60 in under 4 seconds while the Mach-E GT Performance Edition can reach 0 to 60 in the mid 3 second range, competing with the Porsche 911 GTS.

“The Mustang Mach-E wholeheartedly rejects the notion that electric vehicles are only good at reducing gas consumption,” said Hau Thai-Tang, Ford’s chief product development and purchasing officer. “People want a car that’s thrilling to drive, that looks gorgeous and that can easily adapt to their lifestyle – and the Mustang Mach-E delivers all of this in unmatched style.”

Ford is also introducing new technology with the Mustang Mach-E with Phone As Key technology. Through this feature, the driver can unlock and start their Mach-E without a traditional key or key fob. By communicating through Bluetooth, the driver’s smartphone will seamlessly communicate with the vehicle to perform these actions without the driver needing to take their smartphone out of their pocket.

This isn’t the only new feature the Mach-E will debut. The Mach-E will also be equipped with the next generation of SYNC technology. With the next generation of SYNC, drivers can experience easier commutes with predictive technology. After SYNC learns the typical behavior patterns of the driver, it will prompt them to do things they already do, such as calling home after work.

Ford designed the new generation of Mustang to meet all American’s needs, and that includes the need for space. The Mustang Mach-E features a maximum cargo space of 59.6 cubic feet and offers a drainable front-trunk storage space of 4.8 cubic feet. This space is great to fill with ice and keep drinks cold, or simply store a carry-on travel bag.
