The production version of the Ford GT has been spotted on Internet forums recently.
Power to weight ratio
The Ford GT tries to do something that no other car has ever attempted before. As per Jamal Hameedi, the chief engineer, they are trying to give the car the best power to weight ratio among all cars. That's right, not just in its class but among all cars. They have also promised more than 600 hp out of the engine. And we all can expect the car to be super light.
Wheels
At the Detroit show, the car had been rolled out on aluminum wheels which was in stark contrast to the Shelby GT350R which came with ultra-lightweight carbon fiber wheels. Given how serious Ford is about reducing the weight of the GT, it won't be a surprise if the final product comes with this high tech, mass reducing rims too. It looks dam incredible that is for sure.
Rear spoiler
The rear spoiler of the GT has quite a lot to offer. It comes with an air brake function. The car's wing can tilt and even rise vertically. Its horizontal surface can angle upwards in order to capture additional drag and downforce when required. This car is made to go fast and it does! It is surprising a parachute does not shoot out of the back to slow you down like they do for funny cars that is how fast this car can move.
Suspension
Ford calls the new suspension that the GT rides on Active Suspension. It has the ability to lower the car when at higher speeds for improved aerodynamic performance and additional stability. Just like a true supercar, there is a button inside the cabin which can raise the front end whenever you come across driveway ramps or speed bumps.
Buttresses
The flying buttresses do a terrific job of linking the roof with the rear fenders. They aren't as flat as they first appear to be. They create additional downforce too apart from directing air flow around the vehicle to the spoiler. They house the intake tubes which allow air to be scooped up from below the GT, compressed in the turbochargers and shot out through the intercoolers before twisting up the winglets and into the engine. This is called perfection and attention to detail.
Engine
The twin turbocharged, direct injected 3.5 L V6 engine shares a lot more with the LMP2 Daytona prototype than just EcoBoost six. It does offer more than 600 hp, as mentioned above, and is the perfect example of their "Powered by Ford" brand.
Exhausts
Ford isn't planning on getting rid of the jetfighter like exhaust outlets any time soon. They will remain high on the rear bumper. Those outlets are nothing but finishers though. The real exhaust pipes terminate some inches below. But I don't see anyone complaining about that.
Backup camera
The rear window is almost horizontal and is just one & a half feet wide. Parking doesn't seem like it will be too much of a problem in the GT. It comes with the hyperFord backup camera which isn't too much of a surprise actually since they have been mandated in the United States after 2016.
The new GT is expected to go on sale in 2016. Very little information is available about the car apart from this right now. It is a spectacular car though no matter what anyone says! It rivals a Lamborghini in looks.
