Ford has debuted its all new pursuit capable police vehicle, and it’s not a sedan. The newest addition to Ford’s pursuit class police vehicle fleet is the 2018 Ford F-150 Responder.

The truck came into production after input by numerous law enforcement departments and agencies convinced Ford to produce an off-road capable pursuit vehicle. There had been police trucks in production before, but this will be the first one that is capable of high-speed pursuit.

This truck is big and here to stay. It was slightly modified for the field, but the truck was already a great vehicle to begin with. To make sure that the truck performed off of the beaten path, Ford had to add off-road tuned shocks and skid plates to protect the undercarriage. The truck also comes equipped with aluminum wheels and all terrain tires. Additionally, a 240-amp alternator, column-mounted shifter, steel plated back seats, and redesigned cloth seats were added.

The truck is set to become a staple among law enforcement across the country. The SuperCrew cab body provides the most passenger room out of all of the pursuit rated vehicles. Additionally, the pickup bed provides exceptional storage for any situation that officers may come across. The truck will likely be seen heavily used in both rural and urban situations. The truck will be launched into service at some point next year.
