The Ford GT is not only one of the most famous sports cars in the world, it's also one of the most expensive ones. It will cost you $450,000 to own one, but most would agree it's worth every penny.
Here are seven awesome facts about the GT that any fan should know:
It's Expensive

Yes, as already mentioned above, this is one of the most expensive production cars you could ever buy. It is more expensive than two Ferrari 488s put together and that's saying something, but the GT looks better than anything Ferrari ever made. It must be noted that the GT is a limited production car with only 250 units being produced annually. This arrangement will continue for 4 years, after which production will shut down, helping to explain the price tag.
Perhaps Ford will introduce another super sports car to the market once GT production ends!
EcoBoost v6 Engine
Ford GT was conceptualized and took a mere two years to produce. It all began when Project Silver failed and was subsequently abandoned. The 3.5 liter v6 engine was actually developed by Ganassi Racing within their Daytona Prototype program. While most other cars are a v8 or v12, Ford managed to keep it a v6 with the help of an anti-lag system that helps in keeping the turbo of the engine spinning.
Aerodynamics

Ford has managed to work wonders as far as the aerodynamics are concerned, both below the car and on top. With the help of hydraulically actuated pushrod suspension, the team managed to lower the body of the car in track and V-Max modes to just 70 mm above the ground. Add the keel and the wing, and you are looking at 400 pounds of down force when driving at around 150 mph.
Dominating Nature
Ganassi Racing took it to new heights and since then, the car has dominated on a number of race tracks including Le Mans which was a historic feat, Daytona, and Sebring. The Le Mans feat was especially special because the legacy of the GT was on the line when the car participated and won marking the 50th anniversary for Ford.
Ford is on fire!
Roll Cage
Driving a race car at insane speeds is what it is all about, but what about safety? Imagine you had a flat tire while driving on a race track? This is exactly why the team over at the Ford garage built an FIA approved roll cage so that you will not get toasted alive in case you and an unfortunate event became one and the same. The roll cage is more or less identical with the one used in the Le Mans version.
The roll cage will enable you to climb out of the car if you were flipped upside down.
Minimum Interior

The car comes with the bare minimum when it comes to the interior. There are four modes – normal, sport, wet, and V-Max. The backrest cannot be adjusted more than the bare minimum, and there is a digital screen that changes its aesthetics as per the mode selected. Apart from that, and a steering wheel, it has an infotainment system that has been taken straight from the Fusion.
Turbo Lag? What's that?
There are two turbos with the EcoBoost engine where the air is fed forcefully using charged air to make sure that they continue spinning. Why go through all the trouble? This ensures that there is virtually no turbo lag giving you access to more low-mid range torque which enables you to drive fast and maintain an interminable fast speed.
The Ford GT is a winner for not just one reason, but it's a collection of reasons and these seven are just the beginning.
