If you’re looking for the highest-quality off-road experience for your truck, look no further than the upcoming Ford Tough leveling kits from Ford Performance.
The new kits will be available as after-purchase products for the Ford Ranger and Ford F-150, and they’re taking off-road capability to the next level. The dealer-installed leveling kits will include features like aluminum FOX™ shock bodies designed to provide ample cooling capacity, new front coilover springs, vehicle-specific upper front mounts with polyurethane bushings that help isolate noise and vibration, and 2-inch front lift that levels the truck from hood to tailgate.
“Ford Performance Parts developed these kits to make the off-road experience even better for our Ranger and F-150 customers,” said Eric Cin, the Global Director of Ford Vehicle Personalization and Accessories. “Truck customers are asking for options for increased capability and customization, and the new leveling suspension kits for Ranger and F-150 deliver on that need.”
With kit installation, both of Ford’s most popular pickups see a massive improvement to the off-road experience when compared to the standard package. Enhanced elements of the new kits include improved front ground clearance and a far better approach and breakover angles.
Ranger sees an approximate 21 percent increase in approach angle and a 10 percent increase in breakover angle. The F-150 kit outfits America’s favorite pickup with a 145-inch wheelbase, an approximate 22 percent increase in approach angle and a 7 percent increase in breakover angle.
However, the real treat of the all-new leveling kit is the smooth-gliding aluminum FOX shocks. To develop the impossibly smooth shock absorption system, Ford Performance worked closely with FOX to develop unique internal valving for the shocks that delivers confident performance and predictable handling on any road surface.
“The elevated off-road geometry, paired with Ford Performance tuning, makes this a really unique offering,” said Cin. “The secret sauce to this kit is in the Ford Performance tuning. This suspension and its tuning are designed to improve off-road handling and responsiveness, specifically for Ranger and F-150.”
Off-road enthusiasts can order the all-new leveling kit from Ford Performance Parts starting later this fall. The new kit will also be available through Ford dealers for $1,495 before installation. The performance package can be installed at any Ford dealer service center on any four-wheel-drive 2019 Ranger or four-wheel-drive F-150 manufactured in the last five years.
