The Ford Mustang has been around for decades, and its popularity among fans has been as much of a constant as its high-level performance. This iconic vehicle has been able to shift with the changing times without losing the core of what the Mustang really is, and as the vehicle celebrates its 59th birthday, recently released data from S&P Global Mobility has showed that over the last ten years combined, the Ford Mustang has been the best-selling sports car in the world.
It’s been a big few years for the Mustang, with some major growth. In 2022, the vehicle saw sales increases in Germany, Britain, Switzerland, and the Middle East, though the United States is still the biggest worldwide customer of the Mustang, making up 78% of overall sales. The unique and innovative Mustang Mach-E also hit the scene, proving that electric vehicles and incredible Mustang performance can go hand in hand. Ford’s electrified vehicles like the Escape, the Maverick, and the F-150 Lightning have been a much-needed answer to growing demand for sustainable mobility solutions, and the Mustang Mach-E takes it a step further by addressing a want and a need in the same car.
Taking a look towards the future, the all-new, seventh-generation 2024 Ford Mustang is currently in the works, ready to write a new chapter in the history of the Mustang. This will be one of the most customizable and variable Mustangs ever, with lots of options for configuration, engines, transmissions, and much more. Customers with different needs, desires, and price points will now be able to find a Mustang that suits them perfectly.
