Ford has spent the last several years making strides in commercial vehicles and electric vehicles, and that success hasn’t been limited to America. Ford Pro spent the past year impressing in Europe as well, becoming Europe’s official commercial vehicle sales leader in 2022. This marks the eighth year in a row that Ford Pro has led the market in Europe, a new industry record.
Ford Pro is the branch of Ford dedicated to only commercial vehicles and services. Ford Pro recorded its highest-ever overall market share in 2022, coming in at 15%. Ford Pro also increased its share year-over-year in eleven different countries last year– Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Greece, Ireland, Portugal, Romania, Sweden, and Turkey.
The Ford Transit Custom has been a major part of Ford’s success in Europe, becoming the best-selling one-tonne van in Europe once again in 2022, as well as becoming the best-selling vehicle overall in Britain, where Ford has been a market leader for an astonishing 57 consecutive years. In 2022, the all-electric E-Transit Custom was announced, the electric successor to the Transit Custom. This vehicle is eagerly anticipated by Ford Pro customers all across Europe.
The all-electric E-Transit van was launched last spring during a major roll-out of new products and services. The van led monthly sales in the two-tonne EV van segment from last June onward. At this time, Ford Pro also announced its new integrated platform of software, charging, servicing and financing. This platform was designed to increase the productivity and sustainability of businesses across Europe, and will make switching to electric vehicles easier, more efficient, and more accessible for commercial customers.
The all-new Ford Ranger was also unveiled in Europe last year, and has been strengthening its position as a segment leader. 2022 was the Ranger’s eighth straight year as Europe’s most popular pickup.
“Setting a new record of eight consecutive years of European market leadership demonstrates how much our commercial customers rely on Ford’s vans and pickups to deliver for their business. As we roll out our unique platform of software, charging and services across Europe, we are determined to ensure Ford Pro remains our customers’ trusted partner for productivity,” said Hans Schep, general manager, Ford Pro, Europe.
