The Ford Mustang has been a legend in the world of sports cars for decades, and there’s one overarching reason why– the Mustang is always raising the bar. Rather than resting on their laurels, the experts at Ford continue to push the limits of what’s possible with each new edition of the Mustang, and this year, they’ve done it once again. Meet the all-new Ford Mustang Dark Horse, the car packing the most powerful naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 engine in a Mustang ever.

“Mustang has always pushed the envelope. From Mustang GT to Dark Horse, this is our best 5.0-liter V8 yet. It’s naturally aspirated awesomeness,” said Ed Krenz, Mustang chief engineer. “And Mustang EcoBoost fans are also getting a boost in power to make every Mustang more fun and visceral to drive.”

The Mustang Dark Horse is forging ahead this year with a uniquely engineered fourth-generation Coyote V8 engine. This powerhouse provides an astonishing 500 horsepower and 418 ft.-lb. of torque, making the Dark Horse the most powerful non-Shelby edition ever, and is setting a new benchmark for track performance for the Mustang.

The Coyote engine in the Dark Horse has received multiple upgrades to make it ready, including an upgraded oil pan, a segment-first dual intake and dual throttle body induction system, a uniquely balanced crankshaft, and forged piston connecting rods, which were first introduced on the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, allowing the engine to handle higher cylinder pressures and piston speeds. The Dark Horse also includes sports strengthened camshafts that increase durability for the track, including extended operation closer to its 7,500-rpm redline.

“Every time someone gets behind the wheel of a Mustang, we know they want to feel that strong connection to their vehicle – and we’re just as invested in creating that bond,” said Suzanne Robinson, Coyote engine program supervisor. “With the increased responsiveness you get from the new dual throttle bodies, we’re wringing every ounce of performance we can out of our engine so Mustang enthusiasts can have that experience.”

Driving a vehicle with this level of performance is a one-of-a-kind opportunity, and it’s one that you can have for yourself. The all-new 2024 Mustang is being assembled at Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Flat Rock, Michigan in both coupe and convertible models. The vehicle will be going on sale in the U.S. by the summer of 2023. Place a reservation for your 2024 Mustang today with Haldeman Ford Hamilton!
