You’re probably familiar with trunk-or-treating, an event where community members come together to let local kids trick-or-treat out of their trunks. It’s a great way for people to show their creativity and put together cool displays with Halloween decorations and themes. This year, drivers all across the country with new Ford vehicles were able to put an extra-modern spin on the tradition, upgrading trunk-or-treating to frunk-or-treating!

The big question is, what is a frunk?

Put together the words front and trunk, and you’ve got a frunk! It’s a feature on several of Ford’s latest and most advanced battery-electric vehicles, especially the F-150 Lightning. Since these battery-powered vehicles don’t have an engine under the hood, the unused space becomes prime real estate for extra storage, and the Mega Power Frunk of the F-150 Lightning provides incredible utility beyond just a place to stash your stuff.

At 14.1 ft3, the F-150 Lightning’s Mega Power Frunk is the largest front trunk available in all-electric pickup trucks. It can carry up to 400 lbs of cargo, giving you unbelievable flexibility, but it doesn’t stop there. The Mega Power Frunk is also packed with hand features. You can open and access your frunk with your key fob, the grille-mounted release button, the FordPass App, the SecuriCode Keyless entry keypad, the dashboard button below the headlight knob, the center console touchscreen, or even the service release inside the footwell if your vehicle ever loses power. The frunk’s durable, rubberized interior and a built-in drain hole make it quick and easy to clean– you can even use it as a cooler! Inside, cargo hooks, cargo nets, and D-rings keep your cargo secure. You’ll also find a removable, no-skid floor mat, and an adjustable opening height for the hood to keep the frunk accessible even in low-ceilinged garages. Four Pro Power Onboard 120V outlets and two USB outlets provide up to 2.4 kilowatts of power inside the frunk, enough to charge devices or power small appliances like TVs or mini-fridges, and with lights installed in the hood, you can always see what’s inside, even when it’s dark out!

For Halloween this year, Ford drivers crafted some pretty incredible displays, decorations, and dioramas in their frunks, making good use of the extra space and the available power sources. The lucky trick-or-treaters in these neighborhoods definitely enjoyed seeing what they put together! Next Halloween, you could become one of these creative frunk-or-treaters with a display of your own! Visit Haldeman Ford in Hamilton, NJ today to check out the F-150 Lightning for yourself and see if you’ll be ready to join the ranks by next year.
