The Ford F-150 Lightning has been changing not only transportation but business for hundreds of drivers and professionals all over the world, and it’s always a privilege to see up close and personal how the groundbreaking technology of the electric truck is changing the game for someone. Max Rastelli from Halifax, Nova Scotia is one of those people– the man behind the business HFX e-Scooters!
Rastelli started his business in 2019, hoping to realize his commitment of bringing alternative mobility solutions to his city. He was a longtime Ford F-150 owner, and when the F-150 Lightning burst onto the scene a few years ago, Rastelli put down a deposit right away, knowing that it was too perfect an opportunity for him to pass up. For years he’d wanted to own an electric vehicle, but had been unable to find a battery-electric truck that could support his business and keep up with his lifestyle.
In October of 2022, Max Rastelli received the delivery of his pre-ordered F-150 Lightning and took to the streets to show the members of his community how powerful electric transportation could be, whether by scooter or by truck! Before the F-150 Lightning, running HFX e-Scooters previously meant a lot of work for Rastelli– he had to haul his scooters to a central hub in Halifax to charge them, taking up a lot of energy and time. Even when using swappable, rechargeable batteries in his scooters, the central charging hub didn’t have enough power to charge them all at once, posing a serious limitation.
The F-150 Lightning, however, with 9.6kW of available power thanks to Pro Power Onboard, can charge multiple batteries not only at the same time, but right in the truck while Rastelli is driving! It allowed him to expand his business, which was no longer limited by the location of the charging hub, and the instant battery availability has allowed him to make more efficient swaps and cut the scooter downtime to almost nothing.
“It became immediately clear to me that the F-150 Lightning could boost my business productivity as a mobile battery charging station through the use of Pro Power Onboard. Thanks in part to these trucks, I’ve been able to double the number of e-Scooters on my fleet, with near-zero downtime related to charging, making my business twice as efficient. And it doesn’t hurt that this truck is a lot of fun to drive, with its low center of gravity and smooth ride,” Rastelli reported.
Helping businesses and business owners like Max Rastelli and HFX e-Scooters is one of the joys of selling amazing vehicles like the Ford F-150 Lightning.
