There are children in our community who live in households where there is not enough income or resources to adequetely feed the family. School breakfast and lunch programs provide meals to these children Monday through Friday. But what happens on Saturday and Sunday? Do the children get enough to eat over the weekend or do they go hungry?
Send Hunger Packing meets the needs of hungry children by providing them with food to eat over weekends during the school year.
Send Hunger Packing is a partnership between the Mercer Street Friends Food Bank and local schools.
- School counselors, nurses, and teachers identify children in need.
- Mercer Street Friends provides the food and backpacks.
- Food is child-friendly, easy to open, and nutritious.
Haldeman Ford & Subaru is working with Mercer Street Friends to help feed children in need.
Beginning Monday, October 27, 2016 through Friday, November 25, 2016, there will be a donation container in the Ford Service Lobby. Anyone who donates will be entered into a drawing for free detailing of your vehicle. There will be 3 names picked and the drawing will be November 25, 2016.

- Tuna to go
- Chef Boyardee microwaveables
- Granola bars
- Complete entrees
- Canned soups
- Peanut butter and/or jelly
- Shelf stable pudding cups
- On-the-go yogurts
